Tuesday

An after school snack and homework with the happy lamp, we even got a superhero in there. Alaska winters do seem long and you kind of miss the sun. My sister Serena sent us this Happy light, lately we have been using it more to make us happy. It seems to be working and we are grateful for her thinking of us. Thank you Serena.

Sunday

As I was finishing getting ready for church, Karlee came into me and said "Mom this is the most awesome way to wear your purse, you should do it." As she model it for me. I she decided that she was also going to use this purse for her scripture bag at church. She brought it into church, inside not only did she have her scriptures (a pocket size Book of Mormon) but her best friend George the monkey and a library book. :0)

Saturday

The kids and I went to the Peninsula Winter Games today. This year they were able to have the outside activities because it was a little warmer(-8), not much from last year (-22). But it was fun the kids made toolboxes, shot a bow and arrow, decorated a cookie, raced a kick sled, and went down an ice slide (Kallie in the picture above.) It was cold but a lot of fun. We went home to a crock pot of hot chocolate,yum.

My plan was to get the kids through their homework quickly as I made dinner. But there kink in my plan having these two sit next to each other. FOCUS was our goal, in our plan. With a few bumps we did make progress and they had their homework done dinner. Success!

Tonight was pack meeting, Karlee did a good job of sitting on my lap and amusing herself with her coat. At one point the highlight was putting her coat on backwards, and realizing that she could still see through the hood. (And yes I took this picture during the middle of pack meeting, adding to her happiness).

For about the last week we have been having cold weather with no snow, but rain. Everything has turned to ice. So walking around has become a cautious event. As I took my time gingerly walking to the car, Karlee spirited. I was just praying that she would not fall and luckily she didn't.

Today I said goodbye to a good friend and great visiting teacher, Korhl.

We (& Karlee) had lunch a this really cute cafe in a bookstore own by my other visiting teacher.

I am so excited for Korhl and her new adventure and wish her the best of luck.

Monday

Today school was cancelled because of ice. It was blessing that it was, because the road were not safe at all. Since it was so slick outside the kids were pretty much stuck inside. They stayed in their pj's all day, staying warm. Hence Jaron eating dinner in his pj's.

Kyle got this game from Emily and Scott (Thank you so much) for Christmas. We had friends over last night to play it. Today the kids were eager to also play with it. The game is so much fun. I modify it for Karlee and I to play it, it became a new puzzle each time.

Happy Birthday Grandma Kenner!!

Today was Jaron's first day of Webelo's. He is so excited and kept asking when the day would come. He was a little sadden when he found out that I wasn't moving up with him. I have been his den leader ever since he enter cub scouts. I am still the Bear den leader for now, but maybe soon I will move up with him too (and get his patches sewn on his shirt before he goes to a different shirt.)

When I got back from taking Kallie to school, I found Karlee and Kelsie sharing the same chair at the table as they ate breakfast. I thought that it was the cutest thing. All the chairs were unoccupied  but they chose to sit together and enjoyed it.

Sunday

This was our first Sunday in our new time slot for church; 9 a.m. Getting home at noon it leaves for the day to enjoy the Sabbath. The girls had been begging to have their nails done, so we pulled out the nail polish and went to town. I told the girls that they had to stay at the table until their nails were dry, we were waving our hands around and finding anyway that they would dry fast. Karlee became my personal nail dryer, a cute one at that.

Today I took the kids to Home Depot to the kids workshop. 

They had fun building birdhouses and painting them.

They all turn out very colorful.

Now we just need spring to come so we can hang them.

This is the before shot, the after is really blurry she was not a happy camper. Karlee had to go in for her last shots that will bring her up to date. The first time she did shots she did great, awesome, I was amazed at how well she did. The last two times not so much. But luckily she won't have to have anymore shots until she is 12. She brought along two friends to see if that would help. :0(

Thursday

For New Years Eve we bought a box of ten puzzles ranging from 300 pieces to 1000 pieces. We put together a 500 piece one that night and almost took till midnight. The next day Kallie wanted to do the wolf one which was 500 pieces. It just look like a blob of color and we had the hardest time figuring this one out. Kallie is trying to out it together in the picture above. It took us about five days to put this one together and we were glad when we finally finished, (by then it looked like wolves.)

Wednesday

After us all being home sick for the past week (during Christmas break), and Kyle had gone back to work. I knew it was time to get out of the house, we headed over to the Kenai library (which the next town over). We spent about and hour and half there, as the kids check out the books and computer video games in the kids area. Kallie got the new book club book and started reading it at library and couldn't put it down. She finished it in one day. Must of been a really good book, I will have to read it for myself.

In our ward the bishop asked that everyone take the Book of Mormon Challenge. Read three pages a day and have it finished on my birthday. As a family we took that challenge. This is the first day of the challenge, Kyle getting us started.
